At the Employment Option Center, we offer a variety of participatory settings for our individuals. Each setting emphasizes individual choice while maximizing independence, functionality, and an increased level of participation in one’s own life and livelihood.

Each person receives instruction from one of our trained professional staff members: Program Specialists; Job Coaches; Vocational Training Assistants; and Direct Care Support Staff. Departments currently in operation at the Center include Housekeeping, Clerical, and Production.

Many companies, schools, and community organizations have used Center-trained individuals for both paid and volunteer jobs. We want to ensure that the skills our individuals develop are those that will lead them to the most satisfactory work situations. As such, each adult placed in a work setting is monitored by a job coach to ensure mastery of the various job components. Eventually the on-site role of the job coach decreases as the adults assume the status of employees earning a competitive wage.

While adult living is certainly a lot about developing a set of work-related skills, it also is about developing interpersonal skills, about relating to others in all aspects of life.
